this is the center of the city. from here, you can get anywhere very quickly. this is also where most vendors set up shop. at midday, you can't go through without being pushed from post to pillar.

when the town was first settled, it was done so by Christians. after they became isolated and the attacks happened, the church was burned by an angry mob screaming about being abandoned. the priest was hung and now the church stands alone, watching over the city menacingly.

where only the younger children learn. the material is quite old though, and mostly the only thing taught is reading and writing, for there aren't the materials or knowledge for anything else.

this part of town has all the specialty shops. lined up on the cobbled street-side, they compete for your attention by hanging flashy signs or baking the most mouth-watering foods.

the people of Vesqeeté all live under mostly equal prosperity, so the housing district, which surrounds the center of the city, is quite the same all the way through.

this is a large public fountain that runs all year round. children love to play in it and it is a calm place to sit and read or spend time with a lover.

these large, centuries old trees protrude from the forest slightly, as if wishing to break away from the crowd. they form a large semi-circle and the center is shady every part of the day. it is said that if you listen closely, you might hear the Guardians whispering to each other through the wind.

these three trees are located close to the river, dangerously close, but people risk it just to witness the sheer beauty of thousands of fireflies resting and blinking on the branches. it is unsure why they rest there, but no one complains.

this is a series of deep pools left behind by the river centuries ago. Tuteurtrices reside here when not wandering the woodlands, looking for lost travelers.

this is supposed to be the path that leads out of the forest, but those who travel it return, shaking and screaming of how it suddenly dissapears beneath your feet and you wander in circles for days before finally finding yourself in Vesqeeté again. according to legend, the voices drive you mad if you don't get out in time.

its an old wive's tale that if you manage to make it three fourth's of the way down the main path that you will encounter a large stone that sets in the center of your way. if you make a wish while touching this stone, the tale says it will come true. but no one has ever gotten far enough to prove it right or wrong.. and come back sane, at least.

if you veer to far off the path, you will encounter a pit nearly twenty feet deep, and at the bottom, the rotting carcasses of those who refused to leave the forest after the warnings they were given. shiny skulls and femurs are a menacing reminder to all those who witness them.

if you are unfortunate enough to stray form the path dramatically, you might get lost in the denseness of the actual forest. here, wild beasts roam, humble servants of the Guardians. but when the pets are not on their leashes, it spells trouble for anyone in their line of sight.

the age-old hags live deep in these caverns, singing to themselves as they ride out insanity among the bones of their predecessors. merfolk only ever enter when dire help is needed for something, for the hags are not only insane, but incredibly wise, and it is said they can tell a highly accurate fortune.

most of the battles between Reapers and Vengefuls happen here, in these open sections of water. the rocks have all been moved out of the way by warring merpeople, an there are occasional articles of weaponry or jewelry.

Vengeurs congregate here, for it is abundant in fish and shallow caverns to reside in. here they trade goods and raise their chrildren.

close to the bank of the river, Reapers live here, for it is easy to snatch up wandering beach goers. though this is their central location, they move from time to time when the humans catch on that there has been an abundant number of deaths in any one area.

this is where Vengeurs and Tuteurtrice alike sell and barter food, shells, jewelry, and anything else they might need.
